Why This Webinar Matters

MLD is an important foundation. A short post-op course may be a useful starting point. But early postoperative care requires more than a routine.

In the first few weeks after cosmetic or aesthetic plastic surgery, patients need therapists who understand healing, safety, scope of practice, altered drainage pathways, compression garments, complications and red flags, and procedure-specific treatment decisions.

This webinar will help you understand why advanced training matters if you want to work safely and professionally with this patient group.

What this webinar will help you recognise

Before

You may have MLD training or have completed a short post-op course, but still feel unsure whether your current training is enough for treating patients in the first few weeks after surgery. You may be questioning when treatment can safely commence, how each procedure changes the overall clinical picture, and when concerns should be referred back to the surgical team.

After

You will have a clearer understanding of why early postoperative aesthetic and cosmetic plastic surgery aftercare requires advanced training, not just introductory knowledge or a cookie-cutter routine. You will begin to see how wound healing, swelling, incisions, compression garments, red flags, scope of practice, and procedure-specific decisions all shape safer postoperative care.

Through The Aftercare Academy, Petra trains therapists in procedure-specific postoperative care, with a strong focus on safety, scope of practice, clinical decision-making, and protecting vulnerable patients in the early stages of healing.

What Therapists Have Said After Learning With Petra

Many therapists come to The Aftercare Academy because they want to feel safer, clearer, and more professionally prepared when working with postoperative patients

Robert

“I’ve worked with post-op patients for a while and thought I knew enough to be safe. During Petra’s teaching, I realised how much more there was to understand.”

Olivia

“The information shared was incredible. It changed how I think about treating post-op patients and helped me see why this work needs a much deeper clinical approach.”

Laine

“Petra explains complex postoperative care in a way that feels clear, structured, and grounded in real clinical experience. It helped me see the bigger picture.”

What you’ll take away from this webinar

In this clinical webinar, you will understand:

  • why basic MLD is an important foundation, but not full preparation for early postoperative care
  • where short post-op courses can leave important gaps in safety and clinical understanding
  • why the first 2–3 weeks after surgery require particular care
  • how different procedures can change swelling, drainage direction, patient positioning, and treatment priorities
  • why hand pressure, treatment pace and duration and the focus of each session needs to adapt to the patient in front of you
  • how scope of practice and red flags guide safer decisions about when to treat, adapt or delay treatment, or refer back to the surgeon or clinical team
  • what advanced postoperative training should include if you want to work safely, confidently and professionally in this field

It includes a self-assessment of your current training and experience, a scope of practice checklist, chapter-by-chapter reflection prompts and note-taking pages to use alongside the teaching, a learning gaps audit to help you identify where further training may be needed, and a personal action plan to help you decide on your next step after the webinar.

Join us live and receive even more

If you attend on the day, you'll also have the opportunity to bring your clinical questions directly to Petra in a live Q&A at the end of the session.

This is a rare chance to get answers from someone with over 20 years of specialist postoperative experience — not a generic response, but a considered one from someone who has worked in this field for many years.

Live attendees will also receive an exclusive 10% discount coupon for the Advanced Workshop. This is not available to replay viewers.
